Choose your role

Availability Friday, Saturday and Sunday is required for every role.

Junior Photographer

12 hours

In your first year, new to bigger events, or feeling a little nervous? You'll be supported as you build experience and capture the weekend as it unfolds.

 

  • Camera with dual card slots

  • Coverage shifts scheduled with the media head

  • SD cards are provided. Hand in your card at the end of your shift; our in-house culler and editor take it from there. No editing or culling required.

Senior Photographer

9 hours

For photographers with experience at larger events or in spaces similar to Wild Roses. Photographers grandmothered in for their third year with us also fall under this role. 

 

  • Camera with dual card slots

  • Coverage shifts scheduled with the media head

  • SD cards are provided. Hand in your card at the end of your shift; our in-house culler and editor take it from there. No editing or culling required.

  • Senior photographer shift requests are prioritized where possible before junior coverage is scheduled.

Videographer

Media Hub · 10 hours

Capture the feel of the festival in a vertical film made for our socials.

  • 6 hours filming & 3 hours editing

  • Propose your theme and creative direction

  • Media head helps schedule your footage

  • Edit in the media hub; bring your own laptop

  • Final video due before you leave the land

  • Collab-tagged on the film and shared with our large community of women

Student shadow

12 hours

Only one student is selected each year for this highly-sought after, hands on opportunity. You'll be supported by our all-women team as you learn alongside the people documenting the festival.

 

  • Shadow photographers, the cull and media head

  • Experience both day and night shoots

  • Learn about lighting, storytelling and photojournalism

  • See how a festival media team works from the inside

3-4 hours, shift timing depends on your role. Some editors may stay after closing Sunday night to finish the galleries before we leave the land

The media head schedules each role's 9-12 hour commitment across any of these days. Individual shifts are generally 3-4 hours.

BEFORE YOU APPLY

Good to Know

Our coverage honours the intimacy of this space. We work with consent, care and a strong storytelling ethic.

Your $200 deposit confirms your commitment and helps ensure your scheduled hours are complete, and is refunded when you complete the assigned hours. 

Deposits are not refunded for cancellations within 30 days of the festival or for no-shows.

If you've served two or more years in a row, you're welcomed back without a deposit.

Photographers who have served 1+ year on our media team have the exclusive opportunity to offer paid photography sessions on the land

Content creator and mobile videographer roles have their own application.

"I‘ve volunteered on the media for the past two years, and they have been the most incredible experiences.

I was a brand new photographer when I applied the first year and this has played a HUGE role to starting my photography business. The festival itself is inviting, warm and nurturing, and if you volunteer on the media team you get a taste of just about everything. I’ve learned so much about photography in general, but also what my personal style is and what I like shooting. And then, there’s Sofia and Sheri, who I can’t say enough good things about. They are the most supportive women and have held my hand through these last two years when it comes to photography and have always lifted me up. I’m most grateful for the other creatives that I’ve met through this journey and the amazing women I’ve had the opportunity to photograph. I can’t wait for next year, and hope to see you there!"
