Emily Mattingsley

Meet Emily, a passionate guide dedicated to empowering women and cyclical beings through body literacy. After the confusion of a religious purity-culture upbringing, she began a self-empowerment journey that reconnected her with the wisdom of her womb and the confidence that comes from understanding your hormone health. She has spent over 10 years studying the science of reproductive health and somatics of sensuality.

Emily combines her background as a former school teacher, Yoga instructor and experienced Fertility Awareness Educator to offer transformative education that supports women and menstruators in reclaiming an understanding of (and connection to) their cycle, so they can avoid pregnancy naturally in the most reliable ways, conceive easefully when they want to, and move through all the different chapters of life and womanhood from puberty to perimenopause with love for their always changing bodies.

Plants for Pregnancy Prevention

Forget the myth that using plants in the form of teas & tinctures which encourage your period to start is inherently dangerous - knowledge of how our bodies work and the ways we have autonomously prevented pregnancy is a foundational part of embodied health and dignity. In those very human moments when we find ourselves praying for our period to arrive, it can feel grounding and empowering to remember the plant allies that have long accompanied us - often growing quietly along our paths - that offer support for the timely rhythms of bleeding and relief. In this workshop, we’ll weave together a spiritual reclamation of herbal contraception (moving beyond the myth that we are “poisoning” ourselves) with a clear, accessible science-based overview of traditionally used plants that have been effective for pregnancy prevention and very early termination support. You'll leave with a clear understanding of the different times in your cycle (even if they are irregular) when different plants can bring on our bleed in different ways. These distinctions matter deeply, helping us approach both our bodies and the plants themselves with respect, discernment and care. When we remember the plants, we remember ourselves - and no one can take that from us.
