Taylor of Tansy Textiles

Taylor blends the mind of a scientist with the heart of an artist. With a background in science and education, she has always been driven by curiosity and a love of inspiring creativity in others. Her lifelong passion for textiles and fibre arts began with sewing and knitting, gradually expanding to include embroidery, crochet, felting, macramé, weaving, and anything else she can dip her toes into.

The craft that has captured her most is natural dyeing—a perfect union of science and art. For Taylor, coaxing color from plants onto fabric is a magical process that deepens her connection to the land. After a sudden injury and disability led her on a journey of recovery and growth, she found solace in this craft that also requires patience, a focus on the process, and embracing the unexpected.

Through Tansy Textiles, Taylor transforms discarded and secondhand materials into one-of-a-kind, functional art designed to be used, worn, repaired, and loved for years to come. She hopes to spark curiosity and inspire others to explore the beauty of natural dyes and sustainable textiles.

Bundle Dyeing with Plant Dyes

This bundle dyeing workshop will introduce participants to the art of natural dyeing. They will have a short introduction to the steps to prepare fibres for dyeing, and then they will get hands on to create two bandanas using the bundle dyeing method. They will arrange dried and fresh plant material directly onto fabric, roll, and steam - and then witness the magic as they unwrap their creations!
