Bryanna Kumpula

Growing up on a farm, I developed a deep connection to the land and an understanding of the rhythms of nature. My passion lies in cultivating sustainable, regenerative practices that not only nourish the earth but also the people who depend on it. Running Bar OA Farms, our cut flower farm has allowed me to hone a blend of traditional farming knowledge and innovative techniques, especially when it comes to growing flowers and food. The hands-on experience of nurturing the soil, planting seeds, and witnessing the growth of crops has shown me that we must approach farming with respect for the land, recognizing that our practices shape the future for generations to come.

One of the most important gifts I hold is the knowledge of how regenerative farming techniques can restore and enrich the environment, while producing nutrient-dense food and flowers. I believe it’s crucial that women everywhere understand the power of regenerative practices—how composting, cover cropping, and minimizing the use of chemicals can rebuild soil health, increase biodiversity, and create more resilient ecosystems, and that this can happen at an urban farm, small farm or large conventional farm. Women, as stewards of the earth, have the wisdom and ability to transform the way we grow food and interact with nature.

In addition, I’ve spent years innovating growing techniques that work in harmony with our environment—whether through indoor farming, small plot intensive agriculture or agroecology. These methods show us how to maximize production while minimizing impact, and they empower us to be more self-sufficient, even in urban settings. The knowledge I carry and share is not just about farming, but about being resourceful and adapting to change—skills that every woman should have access to. This knowledge is power; it’s not just about survival, but thriving in a world that needs sustainable solutions. Women everywhere must know that we hold the keys to innovation and environmental stewardship—through our skills, gifts, and passions, we can create a world where nature and humanity coexist in harmony.
